Obituary of Beatrice Leola Osborne
Osborne: Beatrice "Bea" Leola (Smith); Sister, Aunt, Mother and her greatest achievement, Grandmother, a resident of Florence, passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the age of 94. Born in Howard Twp., daughter of the late Ira and Ethel (Balmer) Smith. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Osborne (1985). Loving mother of Elaine Vlcek (late Joseph), Fran Farrell (John), Wayne Osborne (Gayle), Barry Osborne (Pat), Louise Webster, Robert Osborne (Catherine),Lois Webster (Wally), and Ann Myers. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Michael Vlcek (Rose), Mark Vlcek, Cheryl Sheppard (Kevin), Sheila Morehouse (Jeff), Derek Farrell (Billie), Stephanie Marques (Luis), Julie Webster-Waldie (Phillip), Jana Stasik (Geoff), Kimberly Osborne (Mario), Jillian Klein-Geltink (Greg), Martin Osborne (Lindsay), Alyson Osborne (Robin), Russell Osborne (Nicole), Melissa Sorrell (Mathew), Chris Webster (Suzy), Shawna Webster (Doug), Madison Myers and 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Ruth Gosnell, Donna Baverstock (Gordon). Also survived by sister-in-laws Lena Pickering and Kathy Huiting. Predeceased by a grand-daughter Krista Osborne, grandson Aaron Osborne, great-grandchildren Spencer and Lisa Waldie, sisters Irene Glassford, Helen Leverton, Hazel Clubb and a brother Arlo Smith. Beatrice played with the famous Florence Chicks baseball team and was inducted in the Chatham-Kent Sports Hall of Fame. Bea was a life long member of the Eastern Star and Ridgetown Lawn Bowling Club. She worked hard all her life working at the Florence Post Office and retiring as Post Master. Beatrice made numerous quilts and loved gardening. She was an amazing baker, and we will all miss her famous chocolate chip cookies and date bars. The Osborne family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville on Thursday evening from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Bea's Life will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Cremation has taken place with Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
