Obituary of Robert Dale Crittenden
Crittenden, Robert Dale
Dale took his last breaths of life on Friday, November 10, 2017 in his own gentle and quiet way, expecting nothing and accepting all. Dale was always kind, generous patient, and determined. He had a brilliant head for history, engineering, politics, world affairs, finance, and the restoration of antique vehicles. He was a man with a knowledge of many subjects. Like his parent, he absorbed as much information about any new opportunity of interest. He accepted every day with a positive and optimistic attitude, in spite of his many medical challenges. Dale gave new meaning to courage, strength, and positivity. He believed in hard work, and in never giving up.
Dale's world was his family. He adored, unconditionally, his three girls, Sarah, Abby, and Bonnie. Although they never saw Dale stand to his feet, they knew him to be the tallest man in the world.
Dale was born in Collingwood, Ontario, in 1959. He was educated both there and in Toronto, Ontario. He was rendered quadriplegic per MVA in 1984. During hospitalization, Dale met Bonnie, who became his wife in 1985. In 1996, they adopted their beautiful daughter, Sarah, from China. She brought with her sunshine that filled every day of his life with pride. Abby joined the family in 2004, bringing many licks of love from her pure and precious heart. Bonnie and Dale were apart for 19 days of their 32 years together, because, as they said, "We're still on our Honeymoon!"
As per Dale's request, there will be no funeral.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Dresden Volunteer Firefighters (175 Lindsley St. E., Dresden, ON N0P 1M0) or to K9 Klips (1542 Dufferin Ave., Wallaceburg, ON N8A 2W9) for their volunteer efforts. Arrangements are entrusted to the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, Dresden.
