Obituary of Harvey Maynard Lee Jacobs
Jacobs: Harvey passed away peacefully at Middlesex Hospital Alliance Four Counties Health Services (FCHS) Newbury, Ontario on September 8, 2017. Born in Detroit, Michigan, 75 years ago. Known to family and friends as Maynard Jacobs.
Harvey Maynard Lee Jacobs married the love of his life, the late Georgia Williams (tragically passed in 2003) of Squirrel Island of Walpole Island. Son of late Harvey C. Jacobs & Eulah Stonefish, Grandson of the late, Enoch Christian Stonefish Jacobs & Maggie Cornelius and Samson Snake & Flora Stonefish, Great Grandson of the late, Chief Washington Jacobs & Alice Stonefish and Chief Patterson Cornelius & Clan Mother Mary Bread of Oneida Settlement & Oneida, NY. Great Great Grandson of the late Chief Joshua Jacobs. Direct descendant of the late Jacob. Loving Parent of Suzanne Jacobs & Bernard Wieschorster, Sondra Jacobs of Delaware Nation at Moraviantown, Eelünaapéewi Lahkéewiit, Judy Jacobs & Duane Jacobs of LaSalle, Ontario, Keith Jacobs of Edmonton, Alberta, Ruth Jacobs & Dr. Morton Hansen of England, UK. Grandchildren, Alisha Jacobs, Sarah Jacobs, Deidra Jacobs-Weiss (Germany), Raziel Whitebear, Lauren Jacobs, Isiah Whitebear, Georgia Whitebear-Jacobs, Bethany Whitebear, Augustina Hansen (Denmark), Lara Hansen (England),Tie Jacobs, Makeleigh Johnson. Great-grandchildren, Kora Jacobs-Vyse, Caroline Whitebear, Danielle Whitebear, and Trinity Chalifoux. Brother of Lois (Jacobs) Claus & Kennith Claus of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Rosemary (Jacobs) Williams (and the late Charles) of Squirrel Island of Walpole Island and the late Veronica Yuhas & Calvin Jacobs. Nieces & Nephews, Rachel, Noreen, Jeanine, Clinton, Carson, Cameron, Jennifer. First Cousins, Joyce, Eva, Tom (deceased), Michael, Yvonne, Lou, Debbie, Drake, Nicholas, and Gail.
H. Maynard first language was Lenape. He started piano at 4 years old, at 14 years old earned grade 9 in Piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music. At the age of 15, H. Maynard attended a residential Military High School in Montreal for 3 years earning several military proficiency badges in marksmanship, athleticism, wresting & boxing, leadership and academic distinction. Instead of attending the United States Military Academy WestPoint. At the age of 18, H. Maynard joined the USA Merchant Marines/Mariners of which he served 5 years working on Military Ships and Military Aircrafts Carriers during the Vietnam War and The Bay of Pigs Invasion on Cuba, travelling the world. At the age of 22, H. Maynard married Georgia and there after arrived Suzanne, Sondra, Judy, Keith and Ruth. H.Maynard upgraded his education went onto Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning graduating, Journeymen Industrial Mechanic-Millwright-specializing in Hydraulics & Industrial Mine Maintenance, after 5 years earning tickets & red seals. Working for several companies as well as Ford, Suncor, Chrysler and one of the largest Oil Companies in the world Syncrude Canada Limited. While at Syncrude he wrote 2 books, worked in conjunction with Keyano College teaching Millwright apprentices on-site. H. Maynard retired from Syncrude at the age of 52. Moved to California, worked for the Military during the Gulf War. Then, onto Nevada picking up a another trade in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning. Then, worked for a high end construction company. Finally, deciding to enjoy family, travel and retirement at the age of 60 years old. H. Maynard enjoyed music - especially piano music, played in piano bars with some of the greats like Bob Seger, enjoyed commercial fishing with friends off the coasts of British Columbia, spear fishing, fly hunting to some of the most northern locations in Canada, climbing mountain paths within Jasper & Banff National Park and swimming in any lake, ocean and sea. H. Maynard was a wicked Chess player and card games player, no deck fooled that memory. H. Maynard support the efforts of AIM. H. Maynard was optimistic, believed you could live anywhere, work anywhere in the world. The Jacob's Family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria Street, Thamesville on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
