Smith: Edna, formerly of Bothwell passed away peacefully at the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown in the presence of her family and caring staff at the Village on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the age of 96. Born in Zone Township, June 15, 1921, daughter of the late Wilfred Nickels and Viola (Elliott) Nickels. Edna had a lengthy secretarial career with Newbury Hospital and Bothwell Elementary School. After retirement she volunteered at Bothwell Library. Edna was in the International Poetry Hall of Fame and many were blessed by her gift of poetry writing. Beloved wife of the late Harold Smith (2013). Loving mother of Carol Loveday (Don) of Rondeau and Eva Lou Shaw (Warren) of Edmonton. Sadly missed by grandchildren Dana VanKinsbergen (Jon), Scott Loveday, Kevin Smith (Roselyn), Paul Smith and great grandchildren Brooklyn and Mitchell Loveday. Dear sister of Janis Hart (Mike) of Bothwell and sister-in-law Rheta Filsinger of Strathroy. Predeceased by brother Roy Nickels, sisters-in-law Ruth Nickels and Alta Baverstock, brothers-in-law Milton Baverstock and Earl Filsinger and step-mother Effie Nickels. The Smith family will receive friends at the Badder & Robinson Funeral Home 211 Elm Street, Bothwell on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 1:00 PM. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM.
