It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Harry DeVries, surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice. Born in The Netherlands 78 years ago, son of the late Fred & Gerda DeVries. Beloved husband of 54 years to Joanne DeVries (nee Brouwer). Cherished father to Jim & Henrietta DeVries of Brantford, Brian DeVries of Dresden, Julie & Albert Dreise of Chatham, Stuart & Beverley DeVries of Alymer, and Marcia & David Streefkerk of Novi, Michigan. Grandpa will be forever missed by his grandchildren, Trevor, Olivia, and Sophia DeVries, Renee, Joshua, Heather, and Ryan Dreise, Seth, Luke, and Wesley DeVries, Annika, and Julianna Streefkerk. Brother to Wilma Veenstra (Franz), Margaret Vanderheide (the late Frank), Arnold DeVries (Gertie), Ann Wiersma (Elco), Alice Postma (Fred), Christina Kloostra (Bill), Charlie DeVries (Jenny), Janet Ficher (John), and the late Elsie Vriesema. Brother-in-law to Harry Brouwer (Helen), Ann Dieleman (Jim), Jim Brouwer (Teny), Henry Brouwer (Jane), John Brouwer (Kathy), Rhea VanBreda (the late Jake), and the late Jenny Brouwer. Family and friends will be received at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North Street, Dresden on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Dresden Community Church, 29043 Community Road, Dresden on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Moelker officiating. Interment to follow at Dresden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to leave an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Chatham-Kent Hospice or World Renew.
