Obituary of Jerome Edmond Van Daele
Jerome Edmond Van Daele, a long time resident of of Dresden passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 91. Born in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, the son of the late August and Zulma (De Windt) Van Daele.
Beloved husband of 64 years to the late Lorraine (DeMey) Van Daele. Devoted father of Michael (Deb) Van Daele, Gerry (Nancy) Van Daele, Cheryl (Dave) Cameron, Annette (Terry) Huston, Patty (Scott) Sproule.
Loved and cherished grandfather of Dane Van Daele, Riley Van Daele (Kristyn), Justin (Sara) Van Daele, Jordan (Samantha) Van Daele, Carly Houghton (Eddie), Allan (Bailey), Chad and Evan Cameron, Jason (Danielle) Huston, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Huston, Jillian Cook (Justin), Janelle Ritzer (Kevin) and Brett Sproule (Brynn).
Blessed great grandfather of Mackenzie and Olivia Van Daele, Caleb, Claire, Hannah and Thomas Huston and Cohen Cook.
Much loved brother of Aime (Angeline) Van Daele. Predeceased by sisters Betty (Charley) Baute and Mary (Peter) Strathopolous; brothers Francis (Nora) Van Daele and Omer (Rosemary) Van Daele and sister-in-law Susie (Gordon) Morgan. Jerome will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Jerome was a faithful member of: St. Michael’s Church and Choir, St. Michael’s Parish Advisory Board, Past President of The Dresden Horticultural Society, Knights of Columbus Grand Knight, Councillor for the town of Dresden and a Big Brother of Chatham-Kent. Family came first to Jerome, he was so grateful for, and proud of his Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Jerome enjoyed driving near or far and touring car lots, he always enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports, he enjoyed watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays. He loved all music, dancing and playing cards anytime. We would like to thank the following for their exceptional care and support: March of Dimes, VON, CKHA and Oaks Retirement Village.
A Private Family Visitation and Mass will be celebrated with interment in Dresden Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, Dresden.
