Obituary of Carol Craig
In loving memory of Carol Craig (nee Houston), who graced this world with her elegance, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family. Carol left this world peacefully on April 27, 2024, at Gardenview Long Term Care Facility at the age of sixty-seven. Born in Thamesville Ontario to Doris (2017) and J.C. Houston (2009). Carol was the beloved little sister to Linda Braunton (Rick), Dale Houston (Deb) and Dan Houston (Marlene). Mother to Heather Lohnes (Winston), Andy Craig, Julie Craig (Gwynn), Cathie Guardanapo (Tom). Grandmother to eleven beautiful grandchildren and one great grandchild. A beloved wife of 47 years to Roland Craig whose marriage stood as a testament to enduring love.
Carol was a naturally gifted athlete, albeit humble about her gifts. She played fastball for the 1971 Championship Thamesville Ladies Team and in 1987 she joined the Three Pitch Blues Sisters Team and was voted League MVP. Playing baseball forged bonds that transcended the game, creating lifelong friendships.
As a piano teacher, she nurtured countless talents, instilling in her students not just musical skill but also a love for the art form. Her warm teaching style inspired all who had the privilege to learn from her.
Beyond the music, she delighted in the simple pleasures of life such as baking bread, building jigsaw puzzles with a glass of chardonnay, reading a good crime novel, jogging with friends and family, and crafting delectable meals, especially her world-renowned macaroni and cheese.
Carol was happiest while enjoying the presence of her family over food and laughter. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was effortlessly the heart of all family-gatherings.
In her final years, her smile and grace remained constant through the hardships that she faced.
Though she has left this world, her legacy of love, grace, and devotion to her loved ones will continue through the many lives she has touched.
A special thank you to the staff at Parkview Meadows Long-Term Care facility for the impeccable care that Carol received during her short stay.
