Obituary of Eunice Elizabeth Fennell
Fennell: Eunice Elizabeth Fennell (née Dobbyn), formerly of R.R.#3 Newbury, passed away peacefully in Almonte, ON with family by her side on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the age of 89. Eunice was born in Aberfeldy, ON and raised in Shetland ON, daughter of the late Douglas and Bertha (Reycraft) Dobbyn. Beloved wife of Robert "Bob"Fennell of 67 years. Loving mother of Penny Fennell of Almonte, Margaret Struthers (Michel) of Ottawa, Barbara Fennell of London, and Jane Eybergen (David) of Kincardine. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Elise, Sara, Louise (Mark), Rudy (Sarah), Jason (Euan), Emily, Madelyn, Zackery, and great-granddaughter Emerson. Also survived by brother-in-law Bob Davis, step-brother Don McAlpine and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her step-mother Gertrude McAlpine, sister Phyllis McCreary (Bill), brother Rey Dobbyn (Betty), three McAlpine step-brothers, and in-laws Bill Fennell (Anne), Margery Davis, Beth White (Ed).
Eunice was first and foremost a great home-maker who created an orderly and beautiful home for her husband and children. She was educated in music and teaching and shared those talents throughout her life singing and directing choirs in schools, churches, and the community. She lived a life of faith serving the United Church through choirs, UCW, Council, and "inspecting" pies. She was widely known for her baking as she generously hosted many family gatherings, socials, meetings, and large scale celebrations. She set the bar high in all that she pursued leaving a legacy of love, family, faith, music, service, and style. She will be greatly missed.
The Fennell family will receive family and friends at the Badder & Robinson Funeral Home, 211 Elm St., Bothwell on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 1:30 PM. Interment Oakland Cemetery, Glencoe, followed by a social gathering at the Newbury Legion, 22 Durham St, Newbury. If desired, donations may be made to Four Counties Health Services Foundation or St Andrew's (Cairo) United Church would be appreciated.
