Obituary of Robert Joseph Johnstone

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Joseph Johnstone, of Chatham, ON. Beloved husband of 64 years to Catherine Anne Johnstone (nee Morrison), loving father of John (Elena), Mary Cooper (Denis), Normalee Davies (Steve), Rob (Lorie), Paul (Anna). Proud "Papa" to Ian (Amanda), Evan (Jason), Blair, Lee, Josh (Salwa), Jorden (Alistair), Gabby (Lindsay), Shannon, Sarah, Samantha and Nicolas. Great Grandpa to James, Ally, Mason, Ella and Catherine. 

Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, Robert was the son of Hugh and Mary Johnstone (nee Ward). Survived by his brother Hugh, sister Bonnie Mulvihill (Greg), predeceased by his sister Lee Marie McKay (Lauchie) and nephew Shawn. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

Robert was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and an Alumni of Brentwood in Windsor, ON for 43 years. 

A heart felt thanks to the wonderful care team at Berkshire Care Centre, for the love and compassion shown to Robert in the past 7 months. 

A special thank you to Heather and Fran for keeping him home and happy for 6 weeks prior to his admittance to Long Term Care. Also thanks to his AA friends for all of the emotional support; Ken, Gord, John, Dan, Jamie and Gary. He enjoyed your visits. 

Cremation has taken place. A private family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville. Donations can be made in Bob's memory to the Alzheimer Society or the Brentwoods Recovery Home (Windsor).
