Dwaine Oliphant

Obituary of Dwaine Oliphant

It is with deep sadness that we must say “Goodbye for Now” to our best friend, Dad, Grampa, and Great Grampa, Eric Dwaine Oliphant.

Loving husband of 59 years to Geraldine (Grass) and devoted father to Dan (Carolyn), Dawn Ann (Clint), and Darcy (Amanda).

Remembered with so much laughter and love by his grandchildren Joel (Calsy), Jarrod (Lauren), Alli Oliphant and Mitchell Mazerolle, Brenna, Ty, Griffin and great-grandchildren Sawyer, Jack, and Livia. He will also be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews and extended family.

Dwaine is survived by his younger brother Steve Oliphant (Becky), and sister-in-law Jacqueline O’Neil. Predeceased by his parents Mary and Donald Oliphant, older brother Doug Oliphant (Janet), mother-and father-in-law Margaret and Jack Grass, and brother-in-law Mike O’Neil.

Dwaine grew up in Dresden, Ontario, where he met and married his life partner, Geraldine before moving with his family to Blenheim in 1975. He began his career at an early age with the Canadian Canners and went on to work in the Petroleum industry until he retired.

Dwaine was an active volunteer for many years with the Blenheim Minor Hockey Association, Blenheim Blades Jr. C and a volunteer firefighter for the Dresden Fire Department. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing various sports and proudly supported and cheered on his children and grandchildren at many sporting events. Dwaine loved his Western movies and was a cowboy at heart.

The family would like to thank Dr. Perkin & the Blenheim Medical Staff, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance doctors, nurses and staff, Amanda at Erie Sr. Clair and St. Joseph’s London Heart & Stroke Clinic for your support and care.

In keeping with Dwaine’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at the Dresden Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dwaine to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (9 Ursuline Ave, Chatham, ON N7M 5L9 and online at https://ckhaf.ca/donate/)  or Word of Life Soup Kitchen in Blenheim (22 Talbot St W, Blenheim, ON N0P 1A0) would be greatly appreciated.
