Obituary of Sam Filby
Filby: Samuel a resident of R.R. #2 Kent Bridge passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the age of 93. Born in Northwood, son of the late Samuel and Nellie (Barrick) Filby. Sam was a Chatham police officer for 34 years before retiring in 1981. Dad enjoyed gardening and loved spring, when he could work in his garden and planning what to grow. He loved feeding all the birds,keeping his feeders full and watching them from the kitchen table. Family meant everything to Dad. Beloved husband of the late Bernice (nee Luciani) (Bailey) Filby (2014). Loving father of Chris Filby & Fred Newfield of Chatham, Ronald Bailey (Late Anna) of Blenheim, Randy & Linda Bailey of Kamloops, B.C. and Randy Filby of Port Elgin. Cherished grandpa of 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Dear uncle of Carrie Hunter of Ottawa. Sadly missed by his furry best friend Charlie. Also survived by his brother-in-law Peter and Marie Luciani of Tillsonburg and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a daughter Charlene Meredith; grandsons Mason and Ryan Bailey, sons Richard and Robby Bailey; brother James Filby and his wife Janet. A Private Family service will be held at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville. Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
