Les was a wonderful guy. He and my mother (Patricia Marcus) were 2nd or 3rd cousins. He and my Aunt Nadine spoke often about family genealogy unto her passing 4 years ago. I personally remember Les and the garage at Mrs. Mains. He could always make time to help you out. Our sincerest condolences to the entire family during this difficult time. Marc & Gina Hewitt

Dear Ted and Teresa and families.
My dad and I were so sad to hear of the passing of your dad. He was, in my dads words, a true gentleman and the best of the best. It was an honor growing up beside your family, your dad was always so kind and gentle to me and my siblings. My whole family talks very highly of him. Over the past several years I reconnected with your dad several times. He was still such a great guy. Always had a smile on his face. It wont be the same looking over at the white house knowing he isn't there anymore. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ted and I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to Ted, Teresa and all the extended family. Les was a fabulous neighbour and a true friend. It was a pleasure to spend time with him; he always had time for a friendly chat. We loved his quick wit and dry humour. His smiling face and quiet, gentle nature will be greatly missed on Austin Line.

Our sincere condolences Ted and Teresa and the Austen family. Les was a second cousin of my Mother, Patricia (Marcus) Hewitt. For many years I knew him as the kind man from Maine's Garage. In recent years I often met him on the Main Street of Bothwell and he always asked me how Mom was and sent his regards. He will always be remembered as a kind caring soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with you through this difficult time.

To Ted and Theresa and all the Austen family , Austen Line mourns the loss of another longtime resident . Such a wonderful bunch of neighbours we had growing up ! So very sad to hear of your father’s passing ! A sweet smile and gentle nature . Your dad always gave a happy wave as we took mom for a crop tour . Will always remember him at Maine’s garage or at home puttering on a car in the lane , or having a chat and a coffee with his friends . I still remember clearly when he bought the entire Austen school library for 5$ at auction when our little school closed in 1966 . Miss those happy days !
