Obituary of Gerald Ralph Humphrey

Humphrey: Gerald R., a resident of Bothwell, passed away peacefully at home due to cancer on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the age of 71. Born in Chatham, son of the late Norman and Mae (Matte) Humphrey. Just like in life Gerry managed his illness with strength, and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his children who he adored. In his spare time he was a car enthusiast with a love of muscle cars dated to the 1960's. His favourite was his 1972 Chevy Nova. He was a kind and loving spouse of 44 years to his late wife Billie-Anne (2016). He was a  fun loving man, not a man of words, but his actions, un measurable. He loved the outdoors, and was often found sitting in his garage in the warm sun, reminiscing of days gone. If it was too cold or wet you would find him playing a competitive game of poker on his computer or cribbage  with his friends. His children would often call on Gerry when in need of home repairs or vehicle advice. He was always there for them through their ups and downs, and taught them to  enjoy every moment life has to offer.

Gerry has left behind a son Gerry Humphrey Jr. (Jaqueline), and 3 daughters Rebecca Smith (Chris), Beth Moore (Darrell), Brenda Brown (Al). His grandchildren Lexie, Josh, Kyla, Jacob, late Hunter (2002), Victoria, Bryson, Sam, Ryleigh, Corbin, late Garret (2009), Alayna, and Brodie. He is also survived by siblings Francis Matte (Jan), Norma Holmes (Tom), Phyllis Marchand (Carl), Murray Humphrey (Linda), Ester Wright (Bob). Gerry cherished his great grand-daughter Clara, and her little brother Logan. The family joined Gerry with excitement on the awaited arrival of baby girl Gibson in December.

At Gerry's request cremation has taken place, A Celebration of Gerry's life will be held at his home 344 Beech St., Bothwell on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 3:00 PM .
