Obituary of Ruthann Demaiter

Demaiter, Ruthann (Haskell) a resident of RR3 Newbury, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham, surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the age of 80. Born in Chatham, daughter of the late Fred and Gladys (Bell) Haskell. Beloved wife of the late Michil "Mike" Demaiter (2015). Loving mother of Joanne Verhelle (Gary) of Newbury, Robert Demaiter of Bothwell, Karen CoDyre (Mark) of London, Rick Demaiter (Michelle) of Strathroy, and Jason Demaiter (Dana) of Bothwell. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer Wilson (Jeff), Steven Verhelle (Rebecca), Amanda Marter (Dylan), Heather Underwood (Kyle), Bradley Demaiter, Kathleen Demaiter, Bruce Demaiter, Michael CoDyre, Matthew CoDyre, Sarah CoDyre, Katie CoDyre, Samantha MacAdams (Michael), Zachary Demaiter, Evan Demaiter, Lily Demaiter, and Grace Demaiter. Great-grandmother to Brooke Wilson, Ben Underwood, Dawson Marter, Penelope and Eleanor Underwood. Dear sister to Donna McRitchie (late Charles), and Patricia Noftle (late Guy). Predeceased by her sisters Isabelle Flight (Willis), Betty Whittington (Glen), and brother Lloyd Haskell (Cathy). Forever missed by many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a loving wife and mother. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She held many family get togethers through out the years and looked forward to seeing all her children and grandchildren. She played cards and games with her grandchildren whenever they would visit. She enjoyed going camping with her husband Mike and trips to Florida every winter. Her other hobbies were reading, bird watching, gardening and riding around the farm on her golf cart. She loved visiting with customers during sweet corn season. 

The Demaiter Family will receive friends at the Badder & Robinson Funeral Home, 211 Elm St., Bothwell on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. Due to Covid-10 restrictions, those wishing to attend the visitation must sign up for a scheduled time at https://signup.com/go/AfLsOGB. Nobody will be permitted without a scheduled time. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario has mandated that anyone attending must wear a mask. A Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Garnier Church, 244 Stella Ave., Glencoe with Interment to follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Bothwell. Those wishing to leave an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Friends of the Bothwell Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences and donations may be left at www.badderfuneralhome.com.
