Obituary of Arthur Frank Kemp
Kemp: Arthur Frank, "Art", a resident of Thamesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the age of 64. Born in Chatham, cherished son of Joanne (nee Lather) Kemp and the late Jack Kemp. Beloved husband to Jean Kemp (Rogers). Loving father of the late Jeremy Kemp (2004), Jered and Lyn Sweet of Wallaceburg, Penny Kearney of Petrolia, and Paul Sweet of Dresden. Loving grandfather to Jerry Darling (Lynsey), Ted Darling (Ashley), Amy Darling, Jordan Sweet (Sydney), Bailey Rood (Brian), Jered Sweet Jr. (Brianna), Shannon Pikkert, Riley Pikkert, and great-grandfather to Gavin, Quinn, Lola, Elliot, Lilly, Emily, Alivia, Maxwell and another baby girl on the way in July. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life and they all loved their Poppy Art very much. Cherished brother and brother-in-law to Carol Thompson, Stanley Kemp (Jackie), Jeff Kemp (Debbie), Marcia Couture (Jerry), and Aimee Smith. Art will be forever missed by many nieces and nephews.
Art retired from a wonderful 35 year career with Canadian National Railway but didn't remain idle long. He spent his "retirement" years building a house and going back to work at RailTerm, where he dedicated his time and effort with a great crew of guys. Art was a member of the Thamesville Sertoma Club where he was always willing to volunteer his time and lend a helping hand. He was also a member of the Kent Historic Auto Club, a volunteer with La Sertoma, Neighbourhood Watch, Home James and Thamesville United Church. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of VON Chatham-Kent (especially Meghan) and the nurses in Continuing Care at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. If desired, donations to the Sertoma Foundation of Canada (62 Fieldstone Place, Chatham, ON N7L 5N1) or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the John C. Badder Funeral Home, Thamesville. Online condolences and donations may be left at www.badderfuneralhome.com. "I am free from all the restraints of modern life, free to start a new journey for the rest of my eternity, with people I have missed and loved. To the rest, I hope to see you whenever it's your time. Love Always, Arthur F. Kemp."
