Obituary of Allan Downie

John "Allan" Downie, a resident of Cairo, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Four Counties Health Services at the age of 83. Born in London, the son of John "Jack" and Olive "Jean" (Johnston) Downie. Beloved husband of the late Jean (Loveday) Downie (2018). Loving father of the late Dave (Pam) Downie of Cairo, Kathy (John) Geerts of Watford and Trish (Mario) Piccinin of Kitchener. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Peter, Nathan (Kassy) and Drew Downie; Tammy Geerts; Beccy (Jason) Anderson; Kristina (Zack) Ikert; Meghan, Haley and Michael Piccinin and great grandchildren Natalie and Claire Anderson, Grace and Lyla Ikert, Mila and Lincoln Downie.

Allan was an enthusiastic farmer his entire life and enjoyed tinkering, building and fixing just about anything.  He spent many hours imparting his wisdom about antique farm equipment to people all over the world on www.yesterdaystractors.com.  His favourite activities included travelling, crop touring, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends.  He will be sadly missed by all especially his faithful companions Lucy his dog and Ringo his cat.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, those hoping to attend the visitation service must schedule a time by registering online at https://signup.com/go/UifveMi or by calling the funeral home at 519-695-2716. No one will be permitted at the visitation without a scheduled time. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario has mandated that everyone attending must wear a mask. The Downie family will receive friends at the Badder & Robinson Funeral Home 211 Elm St., Bothwell on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 5:00-8:00 PM. A private family service will be held at a later date. Interment in Bothwell Cemetery .
