Obituary of Mary Agnes Stranak
Mary Stranak, a lifelong resident of Dresden, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Chartwell Royal Oak Long Term Care Residence in Kingsville at the age of 86. Born in Camden Township, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Bachan) Vanek. Beloved wife of the late Tony (Anthony) Stranak, loving mother of Marian (Brady Michaud), Frank and Martin (Cathy) and extremely proud grandmother of Anthony, Kyle, Lauren and Danielle. Dear sister of Lillian Novotny. Predeceased by brother Frank. And loved by her many nieces and cousins. Mary was always happy to be busy with family, friends and neighbours. Dearest to her heart was her faith, her community and her Czech heritage. She was a devout member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Dresden and the St. Michael’s C.W.L. Also, a member of the IODE – Catherine McVean Chapter as well as a long time volunteer with the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Cherished her prayer group meetings and the many retreats to the Holy Family Retreat House in Oxley as well as her adventures over the years with her travelling circle of friends. The family is grateful for the loving care Mary received from the Staff at the Chartwell Kingsville Retirement Residence and most recently at Chartwell Royal Oak. Due to current circumstances, there will be no public visitation at this time. A private family service will be held at the Dresden Cemetery with interment to follow. A Memorial Mass and gathering to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at a later date. Please no floral tributes; donations greatly appreciated to the Alzheimer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
