I only just found out of the passing away of my very dear friend Judy- more often referred to, by me, as mom. In my early days as a young officer and especially being new to Chatham, Judy and Earl took me "under their wings", and always made sure I had a meal; with frequent visits to the detachment at the end of my day shifts or a weekend invite to their home for Mom's famous BBQ ribs. And lets not forget the hot-dog lunches at the detachment to help raise money for the annual Christmas parties. Judy (mom) was a wonderful lady and cared deeply for all those around her; especially the officers and support staff at the Chatham Detachment. Thank You Judy for the person you were!
My deepest condolences to Paul Laing (Mindy), Carrie and family.

My sincere condolences to Judy's family. I met Judy through my husband(late Phil Kearns OPP) and more often lately at cards at Erieau, and dinner with 'the ladies nite out". She was always ready with a warm hug(even at the grocery store). She often mentioned how her grandson was such a great help to her . Many you have fond memories of your grandma, Hunter.

I was very sorry to learn of Judy's passing - My sincere condolences to all of Judy's family. Judy was a great person - a great employee, and a great friend, who will be missed, but never forgotten. If there is any consolation here, it is that she is now with Earl. May she rest in peace.

Paul, Hunter and family, I am so very sorry to hear of your mom’s (grandmother’s) passing. I met Judy while working in the office at the O.P.P. She was so helpful, friendly and liked by all. Her work ethic was exceptional. My late husband Ernie (Police officer) had nothing but good things to say about her. When he was heading back to the office from 401 on his motorcycle at the end of his shift she made sure the garage door was up and he drove right in. So thoughtful. Whenever we went to London, we always checked out your parents house to see what outfit she had her goose statue in. I Saw Judy just after Christmas at Walmart. I thought she looked great, but she mentioned she had some health issues, was feeling better, being cautious and positive. She will be missed. R.I.P. Judy.

Paul, Mindy, Hunter & Carrie:
My sincere condolences to you on the passing of your Mom and Grandma. She was a very kind person who would do anything to help someone who needed help. She loved Hunter to bits and was the happiest when he came over usually Wednesday nights and had supper with her. She was an excellent cook and fed him like a king. There always had to be broccoli on the menu because that was Hunter's favourite. She was always right there when someone mentioned a card game. She will be missed at 16 Marsh St. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult and sad time.

It is with a sad heart that I bid my friend Judy Laing good bye. She was one of the most entertaining people I have ever met and as unpredictable in a conversation as one could be. I will always remember our many conversations and her unlimited escapades at Chatham OPP which always made me laugh, often to a point of pain! She was a true friend and under her often tough exterior was a kind, well-meaning heart. When we last spoke a few weeks back she made it clear she wanted no tears shed for her. She was accepting of what she had and was focusing on positives, especially her Grandson Hunter who was caring for her. I am glad to have had the opportunity to know her and will never forget her. She is in God’s hands now along with Earl. Sorry Judy, but I had to shed a tear or two. Rest in peace.
