Obituary of Douglas Earl Deline
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Douglas Earl Deline age 66 of Dresden on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Chatham-Kent Hospice. The good fight is over.
Born in Petrolia and raised in Dawn Township, Doug is survived by parents Max and Maisie Deline, wife Debbie (Simmons), children Chelsea (Corey Evans) and Matt (Kelly VanRoboys) and his precious grandchildren Caden, Will, Annelyse, Maisie and Maya.
He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Sandra (Allen McBrayne), Brad, Keith (Linda) and Mike (Luanne). A special brother-in-law to the Simmons’ girls and their families. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and their families; he was more than Uncle Doug, he was also their friend.
Predeceased by his father-in-law and buddy Syd, mother-in-law Dolly and sister-in-law Debbie (Harv).
Born a farmer and educated in architecture and construction, Doug farmed his entire life in Dawn Township while simultaneously working over 35 years in heavy civil construction in the Sarnia-Lambton area and was a past member of the Operating Engineers. His achievements are well documented and he took the utmost pride in every project.
Whether it was hockey, going through the local ranks as a Jr. King, Lumberking or Elderking, or baseball, Doug was dedicated to every sports team he played on and every teammate he played with. They shared some incredible moments and great successes that provide countless memories for all.
Over the past 4 years Doug appreciated his time on Sandy Lane (Sarnia), where he enjoyed the many trails and parks as well as the magnificent views of Lake Huron and the St. Clair River. One final visit, though more brief than he would have hoped, was fulfilled recently when he was able to spend treasured time over the holidays there with family and friends.
The family invites those who wish to pay their respects and stories to a Celebration of Life Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Dresden Legion - Branch 113 from 2:00 – 5:00pm to remember Dougie.
Cremation and private family service entrusted to Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St., Dresden.
In lieu of flowers your kind remembrance can be made in Doug’s name to Dresden Minor Hockey, Dresden Minor Baseball or Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
