Balmer: Violet a resident of Village on the Ridge and formerly of Thamesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 99. Beloved wife of the late John F. Balmer (1996). Loving mother of Wayne & Carol Ann Balmer, Gary & Pat Balmer, Keith & Nancy Balmer. Grandmother to Pam (Steve) Ross, Paula (Jazz) Mamak, Penny Hill, Sally (Dwayne) Reaume, Michelle (Jeff) Garrah, Katie Balmer (Patrick DeLottinville), Margaret Ann Jones (Rick Sowinski), Danny (Kaillee) Harrison. Great-grandmother to Mitchell (Reece) Ross, Hannah Ross, Lauren Ross, Connor Ross, Jordyn Garrah, Noah Garrah, Grace Reaume, Nikolas Mamak, Lily Mamak, Quinn Hill, Blair Hill, Isabelle DeLottinville, Stephanie (Dustin) Martin, Paul Jones, Spencer Alexander, MacKenzie Harrison, Brady Harrison and great-great-granddaughter Braylee Jones-Noah. Dear sister to Lillie Forshee. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Linda Balmer, siblings Albert McIntyre (Doris), Elgin McIntyre (Florence), and Gerald Forshee.
Violet enjoyed spending time with her family, her church, and her community. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed planting, growing, harvesting, and sharing the fruits of her labour.
The Balmer family will receive relatives and friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville on Friday from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place in the chapel on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mayhew Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Those wishing to leave an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. John's United Church Botany, the Ronald McDonald House of Southwestern Ontario, or the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
