Dear Family of Dolly it was a pleasure meeting your mom while she resided at the Oaks. She always had a smile and loved telling her life story. How she met the love of her life and how much she enjoyed raising her five daughter's. I missed her when she was no longer there. May the Lord comfort your hearts now, your mom seemed like a true treasure.

Dear Deb, Jan, Donna, Linda and Rhonda and all your kids and grandkids:
It was very sad to hear of Dolly's passing. It is definitely the end of an era for the Simmons and Roberts families. We shared many good times and events over the years and our mothers were always close by watching over us. Dolly was my second Mom and also to my brother's. Our mothers shared a very close friendship and always had each other's back. Take care and please accept our sincere sympathies.

Dolly was so beloved by my grandmother, Dorothy. They grew up together in Halifax, first cousins but like sisters, they always said. And Dolly was beloved by my mom, Sharon, too – and by all of us family in Nova Scotia. We were all moths to the warm hearth fire that Dolly created. My sister Ronnie and I always loved to bask in the glow of Dolly’s joyful presence, her hugs and her stories. We’ve loved our time with Syd and ‘her girls’ too. Deb, Jan, Donna, Linda, and Rhonda, our darling Dresden cousins, her love lives on in you and your families. Dolly’s warmth, humour, joy, laughter were truly great gifts to us all.

My sincere sympathy to you all. Dolly was a true gem! I just loved talking with her. Like so many others wrote her hugs were the best! I had told her I didn’t grow up in Dresden . She shared with me all the fun they always had especially with all the families and neighbour kids, I loved hearing the stories of living on the east coast. My goodness she had so much love in her heart! When Mandy was young she told me how wonderful Grammas cinnamon buns were . I told Dolly and next thing I knew she stopped by work with one for me! It was amazing! I hope that your hearts are full of wonderful memories of your wonderful Mom. She sure set a wonderful example for us all! Condolences to you all. Beth

Living beside someone for 40 years, you tend to show your true colours as you go through the seasons of your life.
I can honestly say that with Dolly, what you see on the outside is what she really was on the inside, LOVE!
During her years as a wife, raising 5 daughters and working as one of the best nurses ever, Dolly still made time to show her love & friendship to so many!
Bill & I are both blessed that she imprinted her love onto our hearts & made us better just knowing her!
I watched the years of hugs & kisses she placed on EVERY quilt made for the generations to follow, that when they stepped out into this world Nana had them safe inside those quilts that had hundreds of prayers she had prayed for each individual child.
I pray your memories stay warm & close to heart, & God continues to comfort you through this trying time! GOD Bless!

So sorry to hear that Dolly has passed away. I have so many great memories growing up next door ion Queen Street. Dolly was always there to look after us and all the kids in the neighbourhood. She didn’t mind when an errant baseball hit the house or all of the noise we made out on the street late into the evening playing road hockey. Cherish all the wonderful memories. She was an incredible lady. Wish I could be there to celebrate her life with all of you.

Our daughter is an army wife and when she dealing with her husband being gone overseas she made a point to always ask her how she was doing. She would always remind us that she knew how hard that the military life was. That meant a lot to all of us. I too will miss her hugs whether on the street or at the grocery store.
