McAUSLAN, Verlie (Welch) - a resident of R.R. #2 Oil Springs, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital on September 26th,2009 at the age of 87. Born in Enniskillen Township, daughter of the late Angus and Cora (Blackstock) Welch. Predeceased by Harold - her devoted and loving husband of 53 years (1999). Loving mother and grandmother of Fred & Sharon Stephenson of Sarnia, and son Scott; Leslie & Helen McAuslan of Waterloo, and son Shawn; Rev. William & Deb McAuslan of Coldstream, and children Charissa, Corey, Colin, Elizabeth, Kurt and son Gabriel; Tom McAuslan & Kerry Hannah of Elora, and sons Don, Angus, Kyle; Norris McAuslan & Heather Blanchard of Edys Mills, and children Brynn and Brian; Angus & Tammy McAuslan of Petrolia, and children Shannon, Aidan and Michael; Nancy and Bryan Aitken of Watford, and children Rob and Sarah, Mark, Kevin and David; Roger & Terri McAuslan of Oil Springs, and sons Jason and Matthew. Loving sister of Grace and Ralph Vokes of Port Lambton. Treasured by sisters-in-law Dorothy McAuslan, Vivienne McAuslan, Hattie Davis and Jessie Coutts. Friends and family loved to congregate in her home which was filled with laughter, great food, music and good fellowship. Verlie's grandchildren were always excited to visit Grandma and Pop and reluctant to leave. Verlie delivered the mail to area residents for over forty years and served faithfully as a long time member of the Eddy's Mills United Church. Verlie was a source of inspiration, encouragement and comfort to everyone she met. Friends and family will be received Tuesday, September 29th 2009 at the BADDER FUNERAL HOME & RECEPTION CENTRE, 679 North St, Dresden from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A Celebration of Verlie's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 11:00 am with Pastor Don McPherson officiating. Internment following at Shetland Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made by cheque at the funeral home to the Eddy's Mills United Church, Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital Foundation or charity of your choice.
