Dawson: Benjamin "Ben", a resident of Chatham passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens, Chatham on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the age of 91. Born in Tilbury East Twp., son of the late Joseph and Lulu (Malott) Dawson. Beloved husband and best friend of Helen (Watson) Dawson. Loving father of Joey Dawson (Judy) and Tamara Moir (Peter). Sadly misssed by grandchildren Matthew Dawson (Tressa Galbraith), Heather Carnahan (Sean), Sarah Hill (Chris), Chelsea Corrente (David), Philip Moir (Jennifer), Wyatt Moir (Shani), and great-grandchildren Natalie, Owen, Landon, Riley, Easton, Noah, Levi, Simeon, Greta-Lyn, Griffin, and Everly. Dear brother-in-law to Mary Claeys (the late Paul), the late Bill & Mary Watson, Carol Gagnier (Roger). Forever missed by several nieces and nephews. Ben worked at Rockwell for 30 years and farmed for 54 years in Howard Township. He loved to cruise, travel, camp, golf, and fish. He obtained his pilot's licence and loved to watch Purple Martins arrive every April and leave every August 14th. He was the Past Master of Tecumseh Sydenham Lodge #245, Thamesville, Past Thrice Puissant Grand Master of Chatham Lodge of Perfection, a member of the Kent Chapter Rose Croix, 32" Scottish Wright member of Moore Consistory, Hamilton, member of Mocha Temple Shrine, London, Past President of Ahcom Shrine, Chatham, Past 1st Principal of Erie Blenheim #73 Royal Arch Mason, and a member of Babylon Councel #11. At Ben's request, cremation has taken place. The Dawson Family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria Street, Thamesville on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Ben's life will be held at the Thamesville United Church, 107 Elizabeth St., Thamesville on Monday, August 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to leave an expression of sympathy are asked to consider by cheque the Chatham-Kent Hospice or Bruce B.
