Obituary of Patricia Vansickle

Patricia Ann Vansickle passed away peacefully August 17, 2026 as a result of complications from breast cancer treatments. Pat, as she was known to family and friends, spent her early years on a farm in Southwestern Ontario, where she nurtured baby kittens, family dogs and developed a life long passion for horses. She was showing Roadsters and Hackney horses long before she was of age to drive a car. In her adult years, her allegiance switched to riding and showing American Saddlebred horses. While she lived in London, Ontario, she was a member and Past President of the American Saddlebred Association of Michigan. She won blue ribbons campaigning with her horses in Michigan and Ohio and developed many friendships in the horse community. Even while travelling the often arduous road of cancer treatments, she continued to care for her favourite horse, Lady Longlegs. A long time employee of Fanshawe Community College, she worked in retail at Olsen Europe in her retirement. In recent years she lived at Longworth Retirement Residence, where she leaves behind many caring friends. She will be greatly missed by her siblings, Robert (Gerald), Eileen (d. Keith), Janice (John) and many cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Byron in 1969 and her mother Lula, in 2020. At Pat's request, cremation has taken place. Her family will remember her privately. Interment of her ashes will take place place this fall in Dresden Cemetery. Donations may be made by cheque to the Breast Care Program at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre, (c/o A1 – 015, 268 Grosvenor Street PO Box 5777 STN B London, Ontario, N6A 4V2) or online at https://www.sjhcfoundation.ca/fundraising-priorities/care/support-breast-care/?gad_source.
