Obituary of Josephine Rose Challis
Challis: Josephine Rose (Tinline), a resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully at Riverview Garden’s, Chatham on Monday, June 29, 2026 at the age of 93. Born in Orford Twp., daughter of the Late Beckett and Leta (Barnes) Tinline. Beloved wife of the Late Charles “Ted” Challis (2020).Loving mother of Jane Haskell (Late Paul), Sherry Lenover (Mike) and the Late Charles Challis. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Lindsay Formosa (Ryan), Sarah Haskell, Alexandra Snyder (Duncan),Jacqueline Stronks (Gerard), and great-grandchildren Shelby, Dominik, Xander, Isla, Oliver, Jack, Kendall, and Finley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.All who knew Jo, loved spending time with her. She was kind, patient and selfless. Her warmth, charm and quick wit naturally drew people to her, and she had a way of making everyone feel at ease. Jo had lots of interests including gardening, reading, crosswords, making crafts, watching the Blue Jays, Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune, traveling, playing piano, poetry, and co-piloting with Ted. The Haskell and Lenover families would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Riverview Gardens staff of 3 West. They have brought great comfort to our family during Jo’s residential stay. The Challis family will receive friends at the John C. Badder Funeral Home, 72 Victoria St., Thamesville on Friday, July 3, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.
