Obituary of Bill Hillman

William Alvin Hillman

Bill Hillman passed away peacefully at Four Counties Hospital on June 9, 2026 in his 94^th year.

Raised in Clachan, the son of the late Lloyd and Ethel Hillman, Bill spent his early years as a mechanic serving in the Army during the Korean war. Following his service, he moved to Streetsville with his late wife, Wilma (nee Ulch).

Bill and Wilma raised 2 sons, Jack Davies (Jen) and Steven Davies, while Bill worked for American LaFrance repairing and delivering fire trucks across Canada. After 25 years with the company Bill and Wilma moved back to the Bothwell area, to open Willy’s Corners Variety. Following Wilma’s passing in 2006, Bill closed the store and retired to Bothwell, where he enjoyed visiting with his neighbours, scratching lottery tickets and raising a glass or two at the Bothwell Legion. Bill was a proud Legion member for 75 years and was pleased to receive the King’s Coronation Medal in 2024 for his Army service.

Bill is predeceased by his brothers, Harvey, George and Ron as well as sister-in-law Elaine. Survived by his sister Marilynn Somerville (late Gord) and sisters-in-law, Esther and Bonnie.

Known for his quick wit and love of storytelling Bill will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and neighbours.

Bill’s family would like to thank the staff at Beattie Manor for his excellent care over the past few months, as well as the staff at Four Counties Hospital for their kind and compassionate care during his stays with them.

Friends and family are invited to join us for a graveside service at McLean Cemetery, Clachan on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 am followed by lunch and celebration at 12:00 pm at the Bothwell Legion.
