Obituary of Cory Shawn Hibbert

Hibbert: Cory, a resident of Thamesville, ON, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the age of 47. Born in London, son of the Late Susan Hibbert (2012), beloved son of the Late Steven Hibbert (2024) and Wendie-Mom, brother of the Late Aaron Hibbert (2025) and dearly missed by his sibling’s Nicole Hibbert, Sean Stafford (Sarah) Casie Nurse (Brent) and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Cory will be lovingly remembered by his in-laws Yana and Pat.

Cory leaves behind his adoring family, his soulmate and best friend Jessica and his bonus children whom he lovingly fathered like his own, Vivian, Lilah, Charlette, Holly, Ben and of course his boy and family pet, Buster. Cory took such pleasure in teaching Vivian how to drive, family golf-cart rides around town with booming music, he taught the kids how to operate the wood splitter for family fires, he taught Ben how to change winter tires and how to give a good handshake. Cory also loved getting to take Lilah to work with him on weekends and she carries on his work ethic. He loved taking the kids to cut down the family Christmas tree every year, and their special annual family vacations. His renegade Holly will forever miss his crazy tickles and head scratches and Charlette will miss the over-the-top pool wrestling throw downs they would have.

Cory was supportive of Jessica’s return to nursing school, and they shared a vision that one day he would slow down from his physical and stressful position at work so they could travel and raise the kids. Cory treated Jessica like she was the only one in the room and she will deeply miss spending her days with him and taking on whatever challenge life threw at them.

Cory was a well-respected diesel mechanic and was Maintenance Manager for SM Freight Inc., a division of Laidlaw Carriers out of Blenheim, ON. Cory was highly regarded by all those who worked with him and will be greatly missed by his co-workers and business associates. Like his dad and brother, he had a passion for heavy equipment. His Sundays were spent endlessly rearranging his toolboxes if there was nothing else going on.

Everyone who knew Cory knew he had a prankster side; there are too many stories to share. He loved his friends, life-long and those he met since settling in Thamesville, to be closer to work. We want to thank those who made it out to “church” last Sunday, it meant so much to him. One last get-together in the shop reminiscing and sharing a beer or two. Thank you to all our family and friends who have brought food, serviced and shined his truck, helped get Cory’s toolbox home, etc., we are so grateful, a blessing during this very difficult time.

Cremation has taken place. Cory had one final goal he was trying to make happen, it was to take Jessica to Jamaica to check another Sandals Resort off their bucket list. To honor Cory’s final wish, A Caribbean Themed-Celebration of Cory’s Life will be held at Willow Ridge Golf Course, 438 Chatham St., Blenheim ON., on May 2, 2026, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  Those wishing to donate are asked to consider the Ronald McDonald House, a charity that Cory and Jessica felt strongly about. Online condolences and donations may be left at www.badderfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to the John C. Badder Funeral Home, Thamesville, ON.
