Marilyn: and Brad, Kevin and Karen and freinds and relatives of Leo. Chris Smyth send me the notice Leo had passed and funeral was today at 8 am Kelowna time. How I would have loved to join in on the Zoom presentation live. However, my sister Mary Margaret died on March 1 and her service was at McKinley funeral home in Cthm so both Dight and I watched that. I remember when your family arrived at the Smyth farm. You were so welcome to be in my grandmother/grand father home that they cherished. That home was moved from where our family home was years before as Dad was to marry mom March 21,1942 and he wanted to build mom a home as a wedding present. Gradma Daisy Oldershaw Smyth would come over to sleep with us and back home for the day - for may years. That home was built like a barn (raised by the community) so did not fall apart when it was rolled over by many men dad said. You boys used to come anc knock on the back door and mom would hear their question? Can YouHoo come out and play. All they ever heard her call day was YouHoo when she would call him for meals (he was working in the barns. He always could hear her voice. Fun times gowing up. They were so happy to have you as part of our family,. May Leo rest in peace. And may you and your family have memories that last forever. Just wanted to say we could not watch service live or we would have. They are now celebrating Mary's life and it will be great stories from all her family and friends. We are so sad to hear of Uncle Leo's passing but so happy and blessed for the 96 years God allowed him on this earth. He was a favored uncle we all cherished and loved. He will be remembered as a warm , kind , gentle man who always had a smile on his face and lots of time to listen to our life stories. We will miss him. My condolences to the Capeling family!
Leo will surely be missed. I remember years ago, spending time with Leo on the farm chatting and playing with his German Sheppard. It seems whenever I see a german sheppard i remember his love for that breed. It is amazing how neighbours can become such lifelong friends/family.

What stands out in my memory growing up is that Leo was always smiling, always an encouragement to others, friendly with young and old alike.
