Obituary of Jim Pumfrey
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Eldon James “Jim” Pumfrey, age 69. Jim passed away peacefully with his children by his side at LHSC on November 21, 2025. He lived his entire life on the family farm just outside Bothwell, a place that rooted him and shaped the steady, hardworking man he became.
Jim is welcomed home into the arms of his late parents, Kenneth and Kathleen Pumfrey, and his brother, Paul (Karen) Pumfrey.
Jim leaves behind his loving sister, Esther (Dennis) Roemmele, with whom he shared a lifelong bond and who remained a constant source of support throughout his life, along with his brother, Philip
(Rosemary) Pumfrey. He was a cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews..
A devoted father, Jim will be deeply missed by his children, Jennifer (Shawn) Dowswell and their children Bria and Benson, Kenny (Lyric) Pumfrey, and his daughter by heart, Lori (Mike) Dennis. He will also be remembered by his longtime friend, Chuck Sullivan, and special friend, Judy Clarke.
Jim’s greatest joys in life were being a father and a grandfather — roles he embraced wholeheartedly and with so much love.
Jim was a farmer at heart — most at home in the fields, working with his hands, and tending to the land he cherished. He was also a talented mechanic who was frequently found tinkering away in the shop, fixing anything with wheels, gears, or an engine. When he wasn’t working the land or in the shop, he enjoyed his passion for the outdoors and the familiar comfort of old country westerns.
Jim was the first to lend a hand whenever someone needed help. His support for the people he cared about never wavered. He showed up for his children in every way possible, never missing a game, event, or moment that mattered. His loyalty, dependability, and quiet strength made him not only a cherished family man, but also a great friend to many in the community.
