Obituary of Jennifer Jean Sayers
With heavy hearts, we announce that Jennifer “Jj” Sayers (Laur) peacefully lost her courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was the devoted wife and love of life to Jeff Sayers, proud mom to Ethan (Taylor) and Grace (Jesse), and most recently blessed with her favourite title yet — Nana to Nash and Amelia. She was the beloved daughter of Leo and Sandy Laur, cherished sister to Gail Dolby(Allan), Leeann Laur (Matt), and Justin Laur (Shelby). Treasured daughter-in-law to Dale and Marilyn Sayers and sister-in-law to Andrea Sayers (Brett) and Rob Sayers. Favourite aunt to Lauren, Derek, and Trevor Dolby, Andrew and Cameron Sayers, Benjamin Leeson, Ava and Ella Rivett, Gavin and Ella Laur. She was also chosen family to Nathan Sangster, who held a special place in her heart.
Jj spent her years living on their farm, where her home was always full of warmth (literally) and her door always open. Visitors knew that if they popped in, they just might find themselves helping her rearrange a room — as she was always curating the perfect space. She was the first to offer a helping hand, always giving freely of herself to others.
She was a champion shopper who could outlast and outshop anyone, especially on Black Friday or town wide garage sales, she loved the thrill of a good deal. She treasured long conversations, always ready to lend a listening ear and her thoughtful advice. Summers brought her joy at their seasonal trailer, where she and Jeff made lifelong friendships at Lorne Henderson. She was blessed with too many friends to list them all, each of whom will carry a piece of her spirit forward.
Her fight with cancer reflected exactly who she was — small but mighty — always pushing back against the odds with courage, strength, and determination.
The family wishes to thank everyone for their incredible support over the past several months, with special gratitude to Bridgette from VON, Dr. Kim, Dr Lebert and the palliative care floor at Bluewater Health Sarnia.
Now, as she takes her final corvette ride, we can only imagine her speeding down a heavenly highway, top down, with the wind in her hair, cold Diet Pepsi in hand and the roar of the engine echoing through eternity. You will be loved, remembered, and missed forever Jennifer.
Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at a later date with interment in Dresden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit or your favourite charity.
