Forty years ago, I had the pleasure of spending two summers with Ross working on a botanical survey of Walpole Island First Nation. Ross was an excellent botanist, with a specialty in orchids, and I’ll never forget his whoop of glee, hunckered down in a prairie, on his discovery of an orchid new to Canada - - Spiranthes ovalis. Ross was a joy to spend time with; an engaging conversationalist, with a great sense of humour, and a trove of amusing stories. I will never forget the laughs we had together. He was a wonderful, elegant man.

Barb, Niece's and Nephews, my deepest sympathies on the passing of Ross. So many memories spending time together, skating in the river, playing golf and having to run with my golf cart to keep up and then my first attempt at skiing in Michigan and my ski fell off as soon as I got on the chair lift. Ross says to me, "just roll off at the top". I always loved hearing him talk about the birds and the flowers and which ones of them were rarest. He will be missed by many.
