I am deeply saddened with the passing of my colleague and friend Paul. I have know Paul for well over 25 years and have wonderful memories of times spent with this giant of a man! Paul's personality filled a room and his dedication to AORS, the Lambton County Road Supervisors Association and the Township of Dawn-Euphemia was second to none.
I recall how proud Paul was when he was installed as the President of AORS in 2004 and how emotional he became when he introduced his kids. It was obvious how much this honour meant to him.
I also fondly remember his many stories and in particular the one where he and his brother ended up with sunburns after a day on the Harley's in the southern states. His description of the two of them tossing cream at and on each other had everyone in the room in stitches!
Paul influenced countless others in AORS and many of us looked to him for words of wisdom and advice. He was always willing to share his experiences but never put himself above anyone else and his humility was admirable.
My thoughts and prayers to all who had the privilege of knowing Paul as family or friend and may we always remember Paul as someone who did the best he could (as the Obit states) and you know, that was pretty awesome.

We bought property on the very north east edge of the municipality and when we were ready to build, we were told to get in touch with Paul to find out where we could locate a driveway. He stepped out of his truck, shook both our hands and said “Welcome to the municipality!” He gave us a run down on the area and encouraged us to “crop tour” so we too could become acquainted with our new home. Since that initial encounter, whenever Albert contacted him, he was always courteous, and knowledgeable, and happy; and laughter was always part of the conversation…he will be missed.

It is difficult to capture in words the intelligent, gregarious, gentle giant I have known since I was a little kid. Hearing of Paul's passing brings up many memories I've been blessed with, for the time spent with him; from little hands holding on for a motorcycle ride, to lending out his old Bonneville for my G-test, to always making sure there was a cold beer in the fridge for a visit; with lots of singing, talking and laughter in between. Paul was always full of wit, wisdom, patience, and understanding. Anywhere I went with him he seemed to know everyone's face, and had something to help them with. It's been of great comfort to read the tributes here, and particularly the recognition from Dawn-Euphemia of his dedication to his community, his role with the township, and the meaningful relationships he built as a result. Shortly before moving out West, Paul made a point of spending the day with me: a Jeep ride was a must, touring me around Dresden and sharing the places and stories of his family history. He was so proud of his hometown and his family, just as I am so proud to have known and loved him. Miss you already. -Em

There are people who walk into our lives and, from the very beginning, we know they’re someone special. Paul was one of those people for me. He wasn’t just my best friend—he was also my co-worker, my mentor, my sounding board, and one of the most genuine people I’ve ever known.
Working with Paul was a privilege. He brought not only sharp intellect and exceptional skill to everything he did, but also a tremendous amount of heart. He mentored, he taught, he encouraged. Paul was the very definition of a public servant. He served the residents of Dawn-Euphemia Township with unwavering dedication, integrity, and heart. He didn’t just do his job—he cared deeply about the people he served, and it showed in everything he did. And he did it so well. This community is better because of him. We all are.
Losing him has left a hole that can’t be filled, but I take comfort in knowing how many lives he touched, how much good he did, and how much he was truly loved. He was a brilliant mind, a compassionate soul, and a treasured friend and colleague.
I miss him every day—but I’m so grateful for every moment we had. He made a difference. He still does. Rest easy, my friend. Thank you for everything. You’ll always be a part of me.

I met Paul when I became an Association of Ontario Road Supervisors (AORS) Director representing Huron County. Paul was one of the first to welcome me to the Association and became an instant friend. I am sure this was the story for most AORS Directors that joined during Paul's time at AORS.
It will come as no surprise to the people that Paul worked with, his past and present Council members and the Residents he served, that the Township of Dawn-Euphemia is a better place for having had Paul in their midst. But Paul's impact spread much further than that. Paul’s impact influenced leaders across the Province of Ontario. His influence made those leaders better, their respective Municipalities great, and created a lasting cultural improvement in Public Works across this Province.
Paul was friend, mentor and role model for myself and Public Works Professionals across Ontario. Now he is a Legend.
By Remembering what Paul gave us, he will remain a True Leader of Leaders.
Miss you Buddy

Paul Dalton was the kind of man who made a lasting impact without ever needing to raise his voice. Through decades of quiet dedication, steady leadership, and unwavering commitment to his community, Paul earned the respect and admiration of everyone who had the privilege to work beside him.
As a Road Supervisor, he understood that true service meant showing up—day or night, rain or shine—and doing the job with care and pride. But more than that, Paul was a mentor, a friend, and a role model. He gave generously of his time, his knowledge, and his heart.
His legacy isn’t measured in titles or accolades—though he’s earned more than a few. It’s measured in the countless lives he’s touched, the respect of his peers across Ontario, and the lasting impact he’s made on our industry.
Thank you, Paul—for everything. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

I met Paul many years ago when I was fortunate enough to spend time with him on the AORS board. Man, what a great guy. Paul would always take the time to say hello, have a conversation, offer compliments and throw in the odd jab or two. I will always remember Paul. He was a mentor to me, I looked up to him in many was. He was a great leader and contributor to AORS. I know that he poured passion into his work, and the community which he served. A true legend. Paul will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers go to Paul, his family and all those who were graced by him. Cheers to you Paul.
- Willy.

I had the privilege of serving with Paul on the AORS Board and found him to be extremely supportive and helpful, especially as he was the outgoing and I was the incoming President. Always friendly, smiling and good natured with a common sense approach. And leaving a wonderful legacy to his municipality, AORS, the PW industry, and most importantly to his family and friends.
Blessings and strength to his family. And Godspeed to you Paul.
