I grew up north of Rutherford. As a young child I would see Ewart as a young man working in Ed's and Doris's store. My condolences to the family.

Dear Mr Godfrey's family,
I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Godfrey's passing. I knew him way back when he taught at St. Michael's school. Even though my children did not have him as a teacher, we parents all knew him as a fair and excellent teacher. I hope you enjoy all the great memories you are left with. They will keep you strong during this very sad time.
Sincerely
Tracy Henry

Mr.Godfrey was my Grade 8 teacher at Holy Family School. He had high standards and pushed his students to succeed. I had the pleasure of reconnecting with him in my own career with St.Clair Catholic. He always had a friendly wave when he'd see me coming/going to work at St.Elizabeth and was happy to come supply in my Kindergarten class (defaulting to singing "This Little Light of Mine" when in doubt). He'll be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Sir.

Ewart “ I knew him was Jake”. He and brother Rick were wonderful cousins . I always remember Jake pumping my gas and he said “Johnny you’re gonna be very successful in life! “ I never forgot that however it ended up he was the successful one! He leaves this world remembered as a great man of God, We have no trouble believing that he’ll be in the arms of Jesus Christ and the good news is we will see him again because of Christ! He was a great professional, but the greatest husband, father and grandfather and brother! My condolences to Linda and all the children and grandchildren! It was incredible to watch Linda and the family and brother Rick surround him as he passed! He saw how much Linda and children and grandchildren as well brother Richard loved him! I know this will be difficult for Terry Ann who was very special to him!

I first met Ewart 30 years ago when I began my career teaching with him at Holy Family. He always had a great story could make a room laugh with his one liners. Ewart was a humble man and would do anything for students, colleagues, family and friends. Ewart and I crossed paths again when I returned to Chatham Kent when he supply taught at both St Anne Blenheim and St Elizabeth schools. Although we hadn’t seen each other for many years our friendship picked right back up and he always made me feel so welcome to be back with the school board. He will be greatly missed.
