Obituary of Edward Marquis Stanley

Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Can you remember the simplest of times, of generations past, courage is being scared to death – but saddling up anyway. John Wayne 1907-1979

This is a tribute to our hero, Husband and Father. Edward Marquis Stanley, born August 10, 1933, died October 14, 2009. One of our favourite memories of Dad was watching Bill Kennedy at the movies on Sunday afternoons. John Wayne and westerns were among his favourites. Such a simple way to spend those lazy winter afternoons, but we would not change them. Or our drives past WSMA in Marine City announcing, much to our adolescent dismay that, Ed Stanley and his family were out enjoying a Sunday afternoon drive. What we would give to have those days back, and him. What will we be without him? His thoughts, his advice and just the pleasure of his presence. They are invaluable and we will cherish all of our memories for the rest of our lives. Because they are a treasure to us. It is with sadness that we have to announce the passing of our Husband and Father, Edward Marquis Stanley. A truly remarkable human being born to Jean and Victor Stanley (deceased) the youngest of eight children. Brother to Hazel Disney (deceased), Isabel McGugan (deceased), Evelyn Harrett, Maisie and Max Deline, Robert Stanley, Anna Bushey and James Stanley (deceased). Our Dad married our mother Mary Olivastri on October 22, 1955. Together they had three lovely daughters and a very handsome son. Wendy Jo Childs and her children Dana and Greg, Nathan and Scott. Nancy Mahoney, Pat and their children Tricia, Erin and Megan. Carol Holling, Lee and their children Michael and Nichole. Christopher Stanley and his children Bobbie, Jessie, Emilie, Joey and Katie Shea. A special Grampie to Layla, Landon and Presley. Edward Marquis Stanley will be resting at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North Street in Dresden on Friday, October,16th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. with the funeral service on Saturday, October 17th at 1 pm. Cremation to follow. Ed was a member of the Camden and Dresden Fire Department, Deputy Fire Chief for 19 years and a loyal member for 40 years. We are most proud of his involvement in AA for 33 years as a member and a sponsor, being a Director and Board Member of the Dresden Agricultural Society, his love of horses and for all his “Famous Garlic”. We will miss him the most. We hope that in the future our husband’s and father’s TRUE GRIT spirit will preserve not only during his legacy, but through the rest of ours. Everything that we do, we will think of you and how you taught us dedication to a job well done and completing it to 150%. Love all of us, Mary, Wendy Jo, Nancy, Carol and Christopher. Donations may be made at the funeral home by cheque to the CNIB or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Online donations and condolences may be left at www.badderfuneralhome.com.
