Obituary of Wilhelmina Herberdina Cornelia Faas

FAAS, Wilhelmina Herberdina Cornelia Visser (Wilma) - Surrounded by her loving family, Wilma passed away on Friday, November 10th in her 99th year, with the same grit, grace, class and dignity in which she lived a remarkable and fulfilled life. Born in Sliedrecht, The Netherlands, daughter of the late Adrianus Visser and Marigje van Wigjerden. She was a life member of the Catherine McVean Chapter IODE, Dresden and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Br.#113, Dresden. Wilma is predeceased by her husband, Casper Cornelius (1972) and her first born child, Jacobus (1945). She is survived by her sons Jack (Wendy), Andrew (Lee), Joe (Bonnie), John (Julie) and Stewart (Nicole), grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Catherine (Jordon), Eric and Kimberly (Silas), great grandchildren Brooke, Logan, Alden and Ephraim. She is also survived by her sister Annie Houweling-Visser (Koos), sister-in-law Tijne Visser, sister-in-law Evelyn Faas and numerous nieces and nephews in The Netherlands. Wilma is also remembered fondly by her partner of many years, Simon Vet, her good friend Lucy Wynsma, who became the daughter she never had, and her daughter-in-law, Janet Faas. The Faas Family would like to express appreciation to her many friends, her caregivers Jayne Slater, Marilyn Palorma, Jackie Jeffs and Kay Chainey and the incredible staff at Fairfield Park Nursing Home, who made her journey home natural and comfortable. The Faas family will receive family and friends at the Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 679 North St., Dresden on Monday from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Interment Dresden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Dresden Community Healthcare Foundation, the Gideon's or the Israel Cancer Research Fund would be appreciated by the family.
